We started Helping our Homeless Wales in 2018 as a response to the ever increasing levels of poverty and homelessness where we live and across the wider area.
Since then our services have been constantly in demand, whether looking out for the street homeless in Cardiff or providing help and dignity to people living in financial hardship across mid and south Wales.
We feed over 100 people a week by food parcels, fresh donations and by cooking and distributing hot meals to rough sleepers across Wales. We also help with clothing and toiletries donations as well as supporting people into accommodation with the supply of furniture and household items. We work with a team of vets who support the homeless and their animals as well as a baking team, nurses and hairdressers. We have recently set up links with agencies and a firm of solicitors who support those in need.
Our charity has a dedicated 24-hour helpline. The team travel to Cardiff weekly to ensure that the areas worst affected receive regular visits; and we also work in partnership with other charities and groups, giving donations and support.
We are a group of unpaid volunteers, dedicating our time and energy to improving the lives of others, because we believe that no one should go cold or hungry, nor feel as though they have no support. The team are all trained and ongoing training is given – without these volunteers and the time they donate we would not be able to run this amazing charity that gives openly and selflessly to anyone in need.
We are constantly fundraising to ensure that the charity runs and is able to provide people with essentials. If you would like to support us, with time or donations, please get in touch. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
